Yamhil-Carlton Football 2019

Key Losses-Joey McGhehey WR/DB, Cole Norwood WR/LB, Own Amerson RB/LB, Oliver Smith OL/DL.

Key Returners-Jamie Garcia 12 (QB/DB), Trey Richmond 11 (TE/DL), Mason Daily 11 (OL/LB), Jacob Preston 10 (RB/LB), Errick Porter 9 (RB), Jakob Jarvis 12 (WR/DB), Mikal Rivas 11 (WR/LB), Sam Dixon 12 (OL/DL), Dustin Talbot 12 (OL/DL) and Dylan McInnis 12 (OL/DL).

Yamhill Carlton is looking to have a better year in 2019 then they did in 2018, they return a majority of the starters from the 2018 team and will return a lot of all-league talent as well. With Yamhill-Carlton returning a quality receiving corps and with QB Jamie Garcia returning the passing game should be better and the offense as a whole should be a step above last season’s numbers. The returning talent on defensive likely means they will be a notch above last season’s defense also. Jamie Garcia will be a huge determinate of how good this 2019 Yamhill-Carlton team will be, he’s a quality thrower and has the speed to make most 3a players miss out in the open field.

This season Yamhill once again plays in a quality conference with 2018 league champ Scio and an improved Madras team. We are guessing Yamhill finishes third in the league again right behind Scio and Madras but with a better record by finishing 6-3 or 7-2 with nonconference wins over Jefferson and Warrenton with the Willamina game being a toss-up as last season was a competitive game with Willamina winning 33-20.

Madras Football 2019

Key losses- Victor Torres LB/RB, Alex Lewis OL/DL, Damian Gonzalez OL/DL Osmar Rodrigues C/DL, Dalton Waldow WR/DB, Killian Smith TE/DE.

Key Returners- Roberto Pacheco WR/DB, Treyvon Easterling RB/LB, Andrew Ganuza OL/DL,David Sumner OL/DL, Cris Maldonado OL/DL, Liam White QB/DB, Kody Zemke DL/LB.

Madras is returning a lot of the 2018 team that went 6-4 and made the first round of the State Playoffs. The biggest area of concern will be the OL, as Madras lost a few quality players to graduation. However, they do return 3 starters and a few players that got some playing time in the two blowout wins versus Salem Academy and McLoughlin. One of the biggest losses will be losing Victor Torres to graduation as he was one of the best 3a running backs last season.

This season will likely be a slightly improved team from last season as the schedule is pretty easy and the first two games are against subpar teams. Look for Madras to have a regular-season record of 7-2 or 6-3 and have a better passing offense than a year ago. Madras will have one of the best runningbacks in 3a once again with Treyvon Easterling being the main running back.
